Power to gas plant for the production of bio-methane: Technoeconomic optimization

In this work, a power to bio-methane plant in which the biogas is produced from an anaerobic digester and hydrogen generated by using electrolysis unit powered renewable (photovoltaic or wind-based), designed sized. The sizing carried out applying techno-economic multi-objective black box optimization approach. A numerical code, built Matlab software package, used evaluate components sizes assess costs. This code implemented workflow developed modeFRONTIER environment. approach allows identify optimal size of plants with aim maximizing annual producibility minimizing its levelized cost. results show that for low-price electricity scenario (45 €/MWh) minimum cost (LCOBM), equal 84.6 €/MWh, obtained adopting PV-based configuration. On contrary, considering high-price (135 €/MWh), LCOBM Wind-based 34.9 €/MWh.
